Wireless Backhaul Optimization

Cellular and other wireless operators are beginning to recognize that the LEC isn't the best and only method when it comes to backhaul connections. CFNS designs custom backhaul networks that leverage metro fiber and microwave to deliver robust mobile backhaul services at a fraction of what the LEC charges for T1 access to the tower and DS3 transport.

With fiber proximity data on more than 200,000 wireless sites, including 80,000 tower and rooftop collocation sites leased by the top 50 tower companies, FiberSource® enables efficient wireless broadband deployment and optimization. FiberSource® provides visibility into existing fiber served sites and sites near fiber routes, including the wireline carriers who serve each site and the wireless carriers collocated there.

Leveraging FiberSourc ® and a range of fiber and fixed wireless technologies, CFN optimizes 3G & 4G backhaul networks from the core to the edge, improving the economics of transporting traffic from the cell site to the MSC and back out to the PSTN. For emerging wireless data and WiMAX providers, FiberSource ® speeds wireless distribution and hub site planning with an optimal mix of wireless and wireline backhaul transport by leveraging high capacity wireless hub sites served with fiber facilities.

The key to optimizing existing T1 backhaul networks is extending the MSC and LEC interconnection points closer to the edge of the network where the traffic originates and terminates. Optimizing the backhaul network for broadband wireless data services also requires an infrastructure that seamlessly supports and integrates TDM and packet based transport services.

CFN has partnered with some of the leading optical equipment vendors to enable turnkey deployment of a managed fiber core including LEC collocation and interconnection. Then building on the expanded base of LEC interconnection points we integrate a range of wireline and fixed wireless backhaul technologies to drive edge optimization including convergence of TDM and packet services.
